I missed the spring

When the leaves were green and the air always smelled of moisture.

The plants covered the garden bed

Everything was healthy before the weeds would start to mess everything up.

The little alcoves and hideaways we'd made the year before

Started to become useable once again.

We'd remember all those imaginary games we used to play

But we found we couldn't play them anymore.

The sun warmed our now pale skin.

We vowed to take advantage of the time we would have in the warmth

But we also knew it would be difficult to fulfill it.

The air always seemed magical and full at this time of year

Rather than being so thin and nearly stagnant.

Birds came back, giving a pleasant symphony in the mornings as we woke up.

Walking anywhere was pure joy

Even though it didn't seem like it before we went because of cold, cold winter.

We now had to really take care of our appearance

Because of sandals and shorts and tank tops that don't cover us up.

We would need new makeup because of being out in the sun.

Or we would just scrap makeup all together, like real girls would.

Flowers covered the fruit trees, and leaves covered the rest

Making everything seem so alive after a dead, brown winter.

Kind of like what was going on inside of us…

Going from being cooped up

To being free among the green.

Once school is out, that's what we are.

Free.
One of my very good friends was encouraging me to write a poem, so I got most of the way there and got stuck. Well, I finished this last night, and I think it's not bad...
